Aurora Aksnes' earliest memory of music is finding a grand piano in the attic. It was awe-inspiring to see what it could do. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music not to get work or for a passion, but as an opportunity to grow. She began writing lyrics of her own. She has cited renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan in her influences, along with a love for Bjork's style. After her mom informed her that her music would not just help her achieve fame but also make others see their significance within the global community and see how they can benefit from the songs, she decided to begin performing publicly. Her mother suggested that she sing her songs in public so that people can see their importance and the ways they can affect the world. It was not until she turned 14 that she told her parents. Aurora wasn't a dream. The singer says that she simply likes writing music. Music to her is the only way to feel anything.
